Yesterday, Twitter announced that it acquired Vancouver-based social new aggregator Summify. Summify, which was founded in late 2009 as ReadFu summarizes the stories that are shared on popular social networks, and other news sites. Summify quickly by hundreds of kinds of stories that are shared across your network, determines the most important stories, and provides a shortcut to the individual user via e-mail. Although Summify founders Mircea Pasoi and Christian Strat originally founded the company in Romania, Summify moved to Vancouver two years ago. Twitter spokesman said VentureBeat require that the terms of the acquisition of the five founders and engineers Summify join Twitter in San Francisco:
“Cristian Strat and Mircea Pasoi created a product that curates the best and the most important stories in your Twitter timeline and Facebook news. Cristian and Mircea and their team of three engineers to join our team for Growth and explore ways to help people connect and collaborate with relevant, timely news. ”
The management team posted the following message Summify blog:
“Our long-term vision at Summify has always been to connect people with the most relevant news for them, in the most time efficient manner. As hundreds millions of people around the world sign up and uses Twitter, we realized that this is the best platform to achieve our vision of a truly global scale. Since Twitter shared this vision with us, joining the company makes sense. ”
After making the announcement, Summify immediately stopped accepting new subscribers and registrations have already been removed and the following features:
- Ability to summarize public
- Profile and influence pages
- Auto-publish
